Bukit Merah DSLR

|
Just got my DSLR today. I'll admit its a want, but in life not everything must be a need. That's what makes us different from animals.

So I shall indulge first,

Good old NCC days

The ghost of the piano

Blur macro pawns

Saturday night was spent visiting an event at Bukit Merah. The event was rather simple, with simplistic performances that featured cheap humor. At first I thought it would be a total was of time, until I saw the smiles of the old folk, which made the majority of the audience.

It was a mixed scent of jealousy and pity. They could be so easily humored, but yet so content. The kind of smell that makes you stop and think why each day you struggle so hard to climb the ladder.

It was raining, and If you know me, when I have nothing to do, I'll look around. This is one of the main reasons why alfred always fails at trying to rape me.

Nevertheless, the rain was pouring, but there was little wind. Suddenly, a wooden display came falling, just as I turned, just that it wasnt towards me..

I jumped forward to block it ( why do I feel like Im writing a sec sch compo?! ) Infront of the board was some chinese man. He wore the "I-look-retrenched" outfit, with a loosley untucked shirt. Obvilious to what was going on he continued to watch the cheap humor on stage.. I guess no one saw. I feel so good, saving a man from concussion. Maybe its repayment for one bleeding head I made two years ago.

Oh well, guess its been quite a weekend.

Ozy dont even come near me, this camera costs alot more. I'm not waiting 2 years for you to pay me.

Manhatten

|
After many weeks, finally we managed to get together a dinner with the e4 dudes.

Jiaren came of course, only to be beaten up. I must say lift rides are alot more thrilling with him around.

Went to manhatten@central

Ok firstly, central has a super weird architecture, its one of the only malls in singapore you can actually get lost in. Without a packet of jellybeans to mark your trail you might probably find yourself walking in circles. In the absence of what could have been "space", central replaces it with funny walls that popup at awkward turns, like its some kind of labyrinth.

Marketing 101 people, making customers stay is only a metaphor, dont make it literal.

Went to eat manhatten only cos alfred wanted the staff discount of 15% from pw.

You have to agree pw looks very very auntie now, especially in that supervisor uniform. As usual she daoed us and refused to take our orders. BWG.

So I signed "PEI WEN =)" for her excellent service.

cute or... -_-

Okay la, actually she was quite nice, *accidently, AHEM, omitting* some orders. Free bowl of ikan bilis too, which Jiaren enjoyed.

And she came back with the bill and, demanding I sign again.. I mean wtf!? -_-

He only comes back once a year so we didnt giveup the chance to make him do stupid things. As pw was waiting for me to resign the bill, we gave Jiaren 10cents and asked him to tip her.

He went like..

"ungggghh, as alfred asked, this is a tip from the six of us... er..."

As usual she just daoed, took the bill and left. BWG. so dao?

Hellboy sucked, especially with front row seats.

GV happens to be one of the cinemas which are run by business people whom have no understanding of the ° sign, or how the human anatomy works.

A typical seat at a GV plex

Watching front row requires you to have either:

a) A height of Yaoming
b) To have been raised with Kayan neck rings since young
c) No brains like us

I cannot believe we succumbed to the belief GV management thoroughly understood the Geneva convention or human rights.

SCAM, 1001%.

Radio TEST WOOTS

|
I realise that each time there's a test coming up I am one of the few people that dont need to set alarm clocks.

No matter what time I set the clock, I'll automatically wake up 10 minutes before the alarm rings. Bio-clocks here are more accurate than quartz.

Digressing, today happens to be a radio test for me. It was a great night before was we were mahjonging and I still havent rehearsed..

Next morning, woke up... stomachache.. again. Always happens before a big test. I can't believe its actually a medical condition. Stress -> Stomach Acids. Whoever knew? =/

So I went on to do my radio test.... heres where the Ecstasy starts.

5 seconds before my time to air, suddenly someone tells me: "NO, ITS NOT 1 MINUTE MORE, ITS NOW!"

I was like WTF? Stupid analog clocks. The minute hand is neither here nor there. htf am I supposed to know which minute it is?

So I just hit the "ON" button and started narrating script. Its always good to have a neatly printed script with you. ^^

Then came the phonecall. A classmate is supposed to call in and request a song... So she calls, and requests for a nice song, Love Me - Collin Raye. Okay, so when I asked who it was going out to... She started stammering... OMFGGG

This is the worse thing that can happen to you, your caller starts stammering. Whats worse it was like those half word stammers like

"Er.. its goin-omg, ahh-ing out to... myy.. my.. err.. err.."

This is where I knew I was going to be screwed... good recording = fun time editing. Ecstasy No.2

Its super anal to edit this kind of calls as you cant edit out the whole word or it'll sound funny, but finding the exact wave to cut will take you alot of time.. and editing is done while other songs are playing, so I basically only had a few minutes...

I draw the surfer to hastily trim the ends of the recording.. then I move on to the stammering part.. WTF, its super hard to edit, as I realised it was half stammers. Before I knew it, I saw 40 seconds left on the last song... I was like okay GG. Die liao, havent finished. So I quickly just anyhow edit the rest of the recording.

The timer struck 10.. 9... 8.. and I havent inserted the recording in the playlist.. OMG, QQ! The list wont move! there was no scrollbar. WTF, no scrollbar!?

Guess it was back to stupid instincts. Select a song then press the down key many many times before you reach the end of the list..

5..4..3... I quickly dragged it in and pressed "LINK". HAHA! ON TIME.

This was ecstasy number 3. The best ever. It beats sniffing crack and glue at the same time. You get so high you swear you'll hit the ceiling. Your heart thumps so fast as adrenaline gushes in your veins...you feel so alive.

I guess this is what makes radio fun, they have free marijuana, and you dont even need a license for it. x)

the value of things

|
Many times in life, things aren't really assigned their true values...

Take for example a poly cert and an A'lvls cert. Three A's can get you into law school, but a 4.0 GPA wont even make the interview. Think this is normal?

An A is about 23% (as of 2007), (BBC). So we can safetly say because of one of the two universal laws, inflation, the percentile of distinctions will reach about 25%. (up 0.9% from 2007. Or 1 in 4, for easier tabulation)

Although it dosent really make sense to grade a calibre of a student via statistics. To make three As, it would be the probability of 3As in a row( 1/4 . 1/4 . 1/4 : I discount variable change, I'm in Masscomm, so I'm entitled to have poor maths ), thats about 0.0156% (offset variable change with law of nerds whos A's come stringed).

**EDIT: Guess I was wrong, 1 in 10 get 3A's... A-stringed nerds > variable change**

1% of the cohort of A level students? Hmm, taking into account of the 17 JCs, so roughly its about.. 250-300 students per year?

Now ask yourself, how many 4.0 diplomas have you seen?

Then there are times the objects have a buffer for their values...

Like at times when you just slapped your friend, the value of friendship plummets to the level of an ice-cube to an eskimo.

So what really presents a true value? If oil could cost under 100/barrel five years back... time?

If you were to assign a numerical value to your life, what would it be?
